What makes our YTT different?
The training reflects PKY’s values and priorities. Please learn about us and be in community with us while considering our teacher training. Spaces are limited and being in community is important!
Our unique teacher training curriculum is organized into three parts.
Yoga philosophy, practices, and culture.
Hawaiian culture, history, and the social injustices that impact Native Hawaiians and marginalized communities in Hawai’i.
Trauma-informed Yoga and meditation.
Additionally, we bring together an EXPERT team of yoga teachers with an array of practices and traditions, and talented kumus to share Hawaiian history, culture, and traditions.
This is about community-building, diversity, and access!

This is a rigorous training program. We will cover topics that will help you teach classes post-training and more advanced topics that are typically covered in a 300-hour program and beyond to ensure we are honoring the people and culture of both Hawai’i and Yoga. We want to be transparent with all potential students before embarking on this journey, it is a commitment and a lot of work will go into our time together.
In addition to the class hours, you are expected to complete: 2 classes a week, mentor touch bases, supplemental virtual training modules, and 3 quizzes. To qualify for the teacher training certification you will need to pass an ‘ike comprehensive test, teach a complete class along with 4-5 shorter pieces, complete a karma Yoga project, and complete a jñana capstone project.

Yes, you will have the ability to register as a Yoga Alliance 200 hr graduate at the end of the training. However, it is not necessary or encouraged. It’s just an option.
